*Jan Bohanes has been Legal Officer at the WTO Appellate Body Secretariat since 2002. Previously, he held the positions of a visiting researcher at the Trade Law Centre for Southern Africa (tralac) in Stellenbosch, South Africa, as well as of a judicial clerk in the Austrian judiciary system. Mr. Bohanes has published on international dispute settlement issues, sanitary and phytosanitary matters, as well as on trade and the environment. His most recent publication is the forthcoming volume "The WTO at 10: The Role of the Dispute Settlement System", co-edited with Appellate Body Member Giorgio Sacerdoti and Alan Yanovich and published by Cambridge University Press. Mr. Bohanes holds an undergraduate law degree and a doctoral degree in European Community law from the University of Vienna, and a Master's degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
